Native Side VS. Non Native Side

This lesson drills the difference between your native side and non-native side while holding fans, using clear cross-body pathways. You’ll practise taking each hand from its own side of the body to the opposite side, building spatial awareness of when a fan is working across your centre line.

Nikki Scarano adds a behind-the-back variation by flipping the palm to face backwards and sliding the hand across the lower back, so the fan ‘peeks out’ on the non-native side. Use this as a coordination and orientation check you can apply to cleaner transitions and more balanced ambidexterity.
