Understanding Beats
Beats are introduced as a counting tool for flow, defined by a prop completing a full rotation and passing a consistent reference point on the circle, often the bottom at six o’clock. You’ll practise recognising that moment as “one beat” so you can count movement reliably across repeated patterns.
This terminology supports communication around beat-based patterns such as two-beat and three-beat weaves, and helps you align fan timing with music. The focus is on relating rotational timing to musical beats to build clearer rhythm, phrasing, and musicality in your spinning.
