Further with Mexican Wave

Build range and fluency in the poi Mexican Wave from opposites (butterfly or open) by alternating which hand crosses behind the body in a steady rhythm. You’ll practise keeping the pattern consistent while changing the pathway over the head, over the shoulder, and out to the side, noticing how body stillness versus a small ‘wiggle’ affects clearance and feel.

Nick Woolsey also encourages ‘threading the needle’ so each side can lead cleanly, and exploring variations like one high/one low and travelling the wave up and down. Drill both inwards and outwards, prioritising the direction that feels less stable.
