Getting started with Mexican Wave
This drills the groundwork for the Mexican Wave in poi by isolating one head at a time and keeping clean planes and alignment. You’ll practise a controlled front-to-back pathway (then the same idea behind you) with both arms in a steady scarecrow-style frame, training the hands to stay in line with the shoulders rather than drifting forward.
Nick Woolsey then has you add the basic turn-and-switch that alternates which poi is in front/behind, in both inward and outward directions. The focus is on minimising unnecessary arm movement, maintaining consistent axes and cross points, and building reliable muscle memory before speeding up or travelling.
