Going further with threading the needle
Refine Thread The Needle in poi by building a clearer push–pull action along the forearm rather than a loose punching motion. Nick Woolsey focuses on switching which head is on top while keeping one poi far and the other close, using an inward spin to set up the pathway.
Drill the mechanics with light arm contact first: allow the poi to wrap above the elbow, then wait until the last moment to pull the arm in as you push the opposite hand out. Practise sliding along the arm line, adding a full-circle “wait” before returning, to develop timing, muscle memory, and a more exaggerated, readable thread.
