Basic tick tock

Build the foundational poi tick tock pattern in a wall plane, treating it as a base for later clockwork-style variations. You’ll set one poi on a steady centre line while the other hand drives a clear back-and-forth swing, training hand independence and clean positioning.

Nick Woolsey emphasises shortening your poi for control, anchoring the bottom hand near the pubic bone to prevent drift, and finding the tick–tock rhythm where the heads pass close. You’ll also start to recognise the timing relationship as split-time same direction versus split-time opposites.
