Playing with lockouts from weaves
Drill weaving lockouts by opening your arms into a brief freeze, then returning cleanly to the weave without breaking timing. Nick Woolsey frames the lockout as a momentary stop where the poi keep circling while your arm pathway pauses, giving you a clear punctuation point inside continuous movement.
Practise swaying and turning with the weave, then explore lockouts on either side and at different orientations, including horizontal and vertical “cardinal points”. Use an imaginary point in front of the sternum to guide symmetrical openings, or vary size between arms for different shapes, building towards flower-like patterning from the weave.
