Turning between the weaves... by hugging little teddy bears
Work on turning while maintaining a clean poi weave, using Nick Woolsey’s “hug the teddy bears” cue to keep your hands and planes organised. You’ll practise forward and backward weaves smoothly enough to shift body orientation without disrupting the pattern, tracking side-to-side as you move from one “track” to the other.
The key drill is recognising the uncrossed moment where you are effectively in both weaves, then choosing the continuation to stay in the same weave or switch direction. This builds reliable weave-to-weave transitions while turning, with clear timing on the cross–uncross relationship of the hands.
