Circling your arms in opposite directions

Drill the foundational coordination of circling your arms in opposite directions, with one arm moving forwards while the other moves backwards. Nick Woolsey emphasises keeping the motion symmetrical and shoulder-friendly by letting the whole body participate rather than torquing at the joint.

You’ll practise tracking each hand along a clear wall plane using a visual reference (a line or nearby wall) to reduce drifting. The lesson also includes simple inhale-and-lift arm raises and posture cues to reinforce relaxed shoulders, an open chest, and integrated turning, setting up cleaner poi pathways and future two-handed patterns.
