Combining footwork and poi fu
This drill blends travelling footwork with poi fu-style arm pathways, using a wall or floor line as a reference for spacing and feedback. You practise a rhythmic step-step-step-close pattern while turning, keeping posture tall and movement bouncy, then focus on leading each turn with the foot to reduce knee torque on grippy surfaces.
As the footwork stabilises, you add the hands in time with the turn, initially keeping fingers near the wall to organise shoulder alignment and timing. The goal is cleaner coordination between feet, torso rotation, and arm direction so the poi fu shapes sit on top of reliable locomotion.
