Learning the split-time reels

Work on converting shoulder reels from same-time into split-time by deliberately letting one hand take a small lead as the poi pass the chest. The drill focuses on stabilising the split-time relationship without over-speeding back into same-time, using quick resets and repeated attempts to find the timing consistently. Expect a clear front-front, back-back rhythm as the pattern settles.

From a stable split-time shoulder reel, explore the transition pathway towards windmill by bringing the hands together overhead. You’ll also apply the same timing method to hip reels, nudging one side ahead “over the top” until split-time locks in, then drilling both directions for control and readiness for further transitions.
