Split time hip reels, counterclockwise!
Drill split-time hip reels counterclockwise, focusing on clean scooping around the hips rather than flipping the hand into a thumb-out “hitchhiking” position. Nick Woolsey cues a thumb-in pathway, letting the wrist circle as the poi travel past the hips in a consistent reel plane.
Build the pattern by starting with single-hand circles to find the thumb-in feel, then transition front-to-back until you can loop smoothly. Bring both poi in, allow the left hand to lead slightly to settle into split time, and reset to same-time hip reels whenever timing drifts.
