Rhythm with Reels

Work a clean shoulder-to-hip reel pattern (often called “chase the sun”) while deliberately aligning it to musical timing. Nick Woolsey focuses on keeping the reel smooth and consistent in one direction so you can treat it as a stable rhythmic unit rather than a purely visual loop.

You’ll experiment with where to place the beat within the reel, noticing how different beat placements change the feel and difficulty. This drill highlights a common timing mismatch between reel counts and a 4/4 pulse, helping you troubleshoot why your poi rhythm can drift from the music and how to re-sync it intentionally.
