The forward 3-beat weave
Drill the forward 3-beat weave by building it from stable lead-ups rather than forcing the pattern. Nick Woolsey checks that your forward split-time can comfortably produce a clean 2-beat weave on either side, with relaxed posture and hands carried slightly in front so the crossing feels easy.
You then practise the key timing change between “over and back” and “over and under”, noticing when the opposite hand crosses as the poi passes underneath. The goal is a balanced weave where each side can take the lead, so you can transition smoothly into the other 2-beat weave without stalling or stiffening.
