Exploring the 3-beat weave
Explore the forward 3-beat weave by deliberately changing constraints rather than just repeating the pattern. Nick Woolsey has you refine pathway consistency by keeping your wrists touching, which tightens alignment and makes the side arcs cleaner and more even.
Then vary the weave’s size and placement, travelling it low to the ground or high overhead, close to the body or out in front. Practise narrow versus wide weaves to emphasise the helix feel, and experiment with ‘holding’ an imaginary expanding ball between the hands to open the shape. Use music to start building expressive control.
