Footwork: Pivot & Step 180

Practise the pivot-and-step footwork pattern to create clean 180° direction changes. You’ll work from a hip-width stance with soft knees, using one foot as an anchor while the other steps to complete the turn, then reversing to travel back the way you came.

The drill alternates sides so you can pivot on either leg, building balance, weight transfer, and consistent turn mechanics. Nikki Scarano frames this as a foundation for accessing 180° and 360° turns and later integrating the same timing into fan work and general prop flow.
