The rhythm of body bounces

Body bounces become much easier to control when you lock in the timing. Nick Woolsey breaks down how bouncing poi off the body can be used as a clean way to reverse direction, then drills the underlying Rhythm with a spoken count.

You practise separating downbeats and upbeats so the poi’s “downs” consistently land on the numbers while the “ups” hit the “and”. This clarifies why many bounce-driven sequences feel like a 3-over-4 relationship, and helps you stop forcing a flat 4/4 count that can limit musicality and smoothness.
