Turning back-and-forth with arms circling split-time same-direction
Drill a full-body turn using arm circles as a proxy for poi timing, building split-time same-direction coordination before adding props. You’ll alternate a “swimming” front-crawl pattern through a neutral open-arm moment, using your gaze and torso rotation to keep the timing consistent as you turn.
Nick Woolsey emphasises pivoting on the feet and letting the whole body rotate so the shoulders stay relaxed rather than twisted. Practise slowly, then smooth it into continuous turns, adjusting circle size as control improves, and repeat on the opposite turning direction as a daily warm-up for cleaner poi turns.
