Whirling with full pirouettes, getting ready to add poi

Practise Whirl footwork by extending the familiar pivot-and-step into a full 360° pirouette. You’ll drill turning from a stable pivot, stepping all the way around to land back on your starting point, using the ball of the supporting foot and a light, controlled finish.

Nick Woolsey emphasises keeping the knee tracking over the toe and staying light through the feet to reduce strain while repeating turns in both directions. This builds the rotational timing and balance you’ll need before adding the weight and coordination demands of poi.
