Footwork: Plié

Practise a dance-based plié footwork adjustment to create more space for side and wheel-plane work with fans. You’ll drill soft, bent knees and a front-foot turnout to roughly 45 degrees away from your centre line, then compare the same arm opening with and without turnout to feel the difference in shoulder compression and range.

By coordinating the pivot of the toes with opening the arm, you refine body orientation and joint comfort so large circles and other shapes can stay cleaner and more accurate. Repeat the pivot-and-open on both sides to build symmetry and reliable access to wide planes.
