Practicing poi fu on a wall

Use a wall, fence, or hedge as a reference to train clean plane awareness while drilling Poi Fu. Work close to the surface to feel forward/back plane drift, then practise circling with one hand an inch from the wall while monitoring posture and keeping the shoulder relaxed by turning the body.

Nick Woolsey builds into split-time same-direction “swimming” switches, aiming to keep each hand in plane without both hands contacting the wall at once. Continue with a wall-guided full-body turn to maintain the circle through rotation, then explore opposite-direction timing and switching patterns, refining extension and control before adding freer angles.
