Warming up the body and brain with poi fu

A poi fu warm-up focused on waking up proprioception and coordination before drilling patterns. You’ll use shaking, wobbling, and slow swinging to locate your hands and arms in space, pausing to “freeze and check” alignment such as matching hand height.

Nick Woolsey emphasises breathing and whole-body awareness while letting gravity naturally stop the poi, then adding a relaxed finger/arm extension on the end of each swing. The session also includes gentle bouncing and attention scanning from feet upwards to loosen the body, settle timing, and prepare shoulders and torso for cleaner movement.
